    Hello loulou,

    I'm very interessted in a mutli-boot environment but I believe I need some clarification on some of the points/steps mentioned in your tutorial:

    1. Is it possible to "install" multiple images on a single USB-Stick attached to one of the USB-Ports on the back of ET9x00?
    2. Can I choose the image that I want to boot each time I boot the ET9x00?
    3. Where is the selection menu (plugin) installed to choose an image to boot and to handle/manage other images? In every image or just in the image on flash?
    4. Does the size of the partition "paritionneur-multiboot-cfe-et9000-v3-2gb.ipk‎" or "paritionneur-multiboot-cfe-et9000-v3-4gb.ipk‎" depend only on the size of the USB-Stick/external USB-Drive used or is it influenced by other parameters? In pother terms: Would it be (theoretically) possible to e.g. a 128 GB USB drive and format its full capacity to store images to boot from?

    Did I get the following terms right: "demo" = ET/CT9x00 STB, "fold-nvram.zip" = "plie-nvram.zip" = Basic image to install flash/nvram for multiboot without using a RS232 connection?

    What is "multiboot-cfe-clarteck-et9000v6d.ipk‎" intended for? Must I use this image for the internal flash, or is it just an example image? Can I use my own "default" image inside internal flash and just install the cfe multiboot components/plugins in it?

    I may have more questions later...

    Best regards

    Hello again,

    I hve tried to install the multiboot envorinment in several ways but I guess I'm totally "lost in translation". Loulou, would you mind creating a really short "Step by Step" Tutorial (1., 2., 3. and so on) for the following environment:

    - CT9100 with OpenPLi 2.1 (Kernel 3.1.0)
    - 4 GB USB Memory Stick
    - internal 2 TB WD EURS SATA-Harddrive

    I believe I managed to flash the nvram to "multiboot cfe". But when I try to "install" "opkg install /tmp/multiboot-cfe-clarteck-et9000v6d.ipk" I get the following error message:

    Code:
    root@et9000:~# opkg install /tmp/multiboot-cfe-clarteck-et9000v6d.ipk
    Installing *******-plugin-extensions-multiboot-cfe (6d) to root...
    sauvegarde image de boot
    erase multiboot cfe ....
    ugrade multiboot cfe ....
    Collected errors:
     * check_data_file_clashes: Package *******-plugin-extensions-multiboot-cfe wants to install file /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0
            But that file is already provided by package * libpng12-0
     * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package *******-plugin-extensions-multiboot-cfe.
    I tried to install from the "plie-nvram.zip" image. Before starting the installation I copied the "multiboot-cfe-clarteck-et9000v6d.ipk" package to /tmp/.

    When I do the same inside an OpenPLi image (installing from a directory on HDD), I get an error like "no more free space". It seems it did not extract the files to "sdb*", but instead to /sdb1/ and/or /media/meoboot or something similar on the internal flash memory.

    Code:
    root@et9000:/media/hdd/PlugIns# opkg install multiboot-cfe-clarteck-et9000v6d.ipk
    Installing *******-plugin-extensions-multiboot-cfe (6d) to root...
    sauvegarde image de boot
    erase multiboot cfe ....
    ugrade multiboot cfe ....
    Collected errors:
     * copy_file_chunk: write: No space left on device.
     * pkg_write_filelist: Failed to open //usr/lib/opkg/info/*******-plugin-extensions-multiboot-cfe.list: No space left on device.
     * opkg_install_pkg: Failed to extract data files for *******-plugin-extensions-multiboot-cfe. Package debris may remain!
     * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package *******-plugin-extensions-multiboot-cfe.

    Any idea what I'm doing wrong or what I should try next?

    Update: One of the basic issues for me seems to be that I'm not able to mount the first partition of the USB-Stick correctly to /media/sdb1. This seems to be the reason why multiboot-cfe-clarteck-et9000v6d.ipk gets extracted to /media/sdb1 (new directory)...Unfortunately I'm not sure if I the formating of the USB-Stick went ok, there have been error messages during partitioning

    Update2: Finally made it to install basic cfe multiboot functionallity.

    Now next to the images: How can I tell which images to use? Are there any restrictions on the versions/filesystems? I just tried to extract rootfs.bin from an up to date OpenPLi, but failed. What do I have to put to /hdd/images exactly? Only the file "rootfs.bin" or other files too? What about UBIFS, is this supported for OpenPLi and CT V3

    Best regards

    Good evening, what you as an image in flash?
    must be off the image in flash v3 for the extraction works!
    and sdb2 is the image not mixed with off v3 OpenPlie, and you have not tried 2 times if the extraction does not work, it is necessary to reboot a second time to extract

    to install nvram-nvram.zip folds easily installed based on the 2.6.18 and go nvram-tool, then reflash the image off v3, multiboot-CFE was that for the image in flash off v3

    Ok, let's see what we have:

    - CT V3 needs to be in flash when extracting images
    - I have to reboot 2 times after the installation of cfe multiboot!? (what, if the extraction of an image went wrong before? Do I have to do a new installation or do I have to delete something?)

    Right now I have "pure" OpenPLi 2.1 (Kernel 3.1.0) in flash. Nothing is "mixed". Do you think this will not work at all?

    Would you mind "cleaning" up your Tutorial a little bit? There a a lot of redundant sentences and texts and combined with English language it is very hard to follow the steps. Could you please clarify this a little bit? When do I have to reboot, when should I repeat the extraction (and so on...). Sorry for asking so much things, but it is really very hard to understand this multiboot solution.

    P.S.: The "/dev/sdb2 is alread in use"-message is persistent, it is always there, does not matter what I try.

    Best regards

    flash an image based on kernel 3.0.3, ie if the image off the [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] -V3, to extract an image UBIFS, executed as an extraction time, if you want to reboot again and re-extraction
